I heard Jeff Buckley’s version more today than I have heard Alexandra’s.
I bought the Jeff Buckley version. Its beautiful. Its so haunting and simple with no gospel choirs or showy offy moments.

Neither aswell and why should I? its a forgettable cover version and the whole X Factor thing has RUINED the Xmas number 1 as year after year its a bland forgettable cover that tops the chart through the hysteria of the moment.

I hate Simon Cowell for that

neither they are both depressing and crap

Neither – the definitive version is by Leonard Cohen, he wrote it and his lugubrious voice is perfect for the song. It’s a very downbeat song, about broken love, the love that hurts and betrays.

Alexandra bores me and is just a bad version of Leona

I already have Jeff Buckley’s version a few years now

However I too am sick of the same mindless ballads adorning the Christmas charts year after year, its ruining that old battle for the no. 1 spot at crimbo, the sooner the cycle of ‘talent show winners’ droning through Christmas is broken the better.

Jeff Buckley’s. Leonard Cohen himself has described it as the definitive version, but regardless of how you feel about Jeff’s cover, if you care about music you’ll buy it to stop Simon Cowell’s manipulated, manufactured rubbish getting to the top of the charts with sole intention of lining his pockets.
