Why is ‘Bleeding Love’ sung by Leona Lewis such an everlasting success and can we all relate to it?

The words go ‘You can cut me open and I keep bleeding, I Keep keep bleeding loveKeep bleeding love’. Is it because if you love someone with your heart you cannot do without him or her? And doesn’t this extend to the family situation. Your parents bring you up and you depend on them wholeheartedly to a greater or lesser extent all your life. So is the song trying to say that love is entwined with hate?
